Everyone's out except me... :(

AND RAMIL! YIPEE!!! LET'S EDIT SOME ALL-GIRLY SPORTS! RAH RAH RAH! SISBUMBA! AYEEEEEE!!!

Hay...I need a cigarette.
>All this fighting because of basketball.

Ramil and I checked out the wedsite of the Asian Basketball Confederation and we found that there's a lot of bashing over there as well. Everyone's insulting everyone else's countriy in the message forum. It started with everybody saying that they hated the Philippine Basketball Team in the Asian Games (Could it be because they're mostly imports?), and in response to a Singaporean's comment about the Philippines (I don't know what he said because there are SO many posts and they're not even in order.), one Pinoy wrote:

Singaporeans Must Be The Ugliest People On the Face of This Planet!!! by Juana Po (‘Juana Po’)
Yes I have been to Singapore and have to admit its pretty clean but they have gotta be the ugliest people to walk this earth. I mean you can walk around small Singapore for a month and you won't find a single decent looking person or even one who looks like a person. They all look like they missed a stage or two in evolution. Man they are ugleeeeeeeeee!!!!!! Like Bowoooooow!!!!!! Singaporeans can never be whores because their faces are HEINOUS!!!!!!!! THEY JUST WON'T GET A SINGLE CUSTOMER!!!

And I guess in response to this, a Singaporean wrote:

All Filipinos must read this... by fdfdfdf (‘Chen’)
After reading your humiliating words about Chinese, I think its time for me to tell you all insipid Filipinos about your specie. I’m not from China but I’m Singaporean Chinese. Do you think just because you speak better English than Chinese makes you a better person than us? Well let me tell you this, Filipinos are everywhere in this world but not as professionals but as MAIDS, CONSTRUCTION WORKERS, PROSTITUTES and CAREGIVERS!!! And if you think you’re better than us, why you’re country very poor? Coz most Filipinos are too lazy and not honest. You’re not like us Singaporeans. Have you visited Singapore? One way to pay our ride in the bus is to insert our card and just simply press the right amount for our ride. You why we do this? coz we believe that we are honest to goodness. And guess what? my Filipino friends here don’t pay the right amount and some don’t even pay. Most of the Filipinos are Catholics right? but why your country so many killers, kidnappers, bombers, rapist, etc….??? because you speak better English? or because you’re not like robots?

"Why you’re country very poor?" Bwahaha! Haha. Sigh. I can hear da Singlish accent of dees wan, eh? You teenk you perm yo hair I don't recognize you, huh? Abish, abish, abish! (Nekkeh! I miss you!)

If you wanna join the fight, go ahead and visit the site! There's lots more where this came from.

*To all my Singaporean friends, you know I love you. :)

Disney Princess: Who Are You?

I am Ariel!
Which Disney Princess are you?

You have the heart of a rebellious teenage girl. In your struggle to assert your independence, don't forget all your family does for you. You might have materialistic tendencies. It wouldn't hurt to take stock of your possessions and give all the things you no longer use to Goodwill. Everyone finds your youthful, innocent good looks attractive, but remember that you have a mind (or at least a voice), too. You are totally in love with the sea and would do well with a man who also loves the outdoors.

Yey! I'm Ariel! But then it says that I'm rebellious. Hmmm, I think I'm already past that. :)

My favorite part in the test was where I was asked what my favorite color was, and one of the choices said blue -- no, pink! Haha! Sleeping Beauty!

Hey, this post looks like Mich's blog. Hehe.
It keeps going and going and going...

These might entertain some of you. Dalawang tula mula kay Frangelico Ramos - Gregorio. Lasalyano.

Ngunit mas may nalalaman kami kaysa sinumang Poncio Pilato.

Teehee! I actually found them kinda funny, but he meant well naman eh. I like the Boy Abunda and Kris Aquino bit, though. O, say niyo? Galing managalog ng mga Lasalyano, no? Hehe! Yeah whatever, right? :)

>Rovilson's gonna kill me.

I wrote an article about my shoot in Hong Kong for Manila Bulletin's GamePlanet column and I found some clips that just made me LMAO (Aaaah, I know what that means na! Hahaha!). Anyway, we went to Cheung Chau Island where we found some rock formations that were supposed to look like certain animals such as an elephant, a goat, a cat, what have you. Most of them didn't exactly look like anything, but the most popular formation called the Human Head (The sign said Human HAED, though. Heehee!) DID look like a Human Head! Well, more like the head of that deformed guy in Goonies.

This rock is the Human Head...and this is Rovilson's head. Haha!
The Human Haed.'I'm the human hayed!'

Swayze, Moore and pottery. The Probe Team people are watching Ghost here in the office and I absolutely love that movie no matter how cheetos it is. Haha! Ok, ok. It's more of I love it for it's sentimental value. My neighbors and I used to watch the beta of this ALL the time when we were bored. I practically memorized it! Like now, I'm facing my computer but I can hear the dialogue and the music and I can visualize the scenes in my head.

Actually, Ghost makes me miss my neighbors, my childhood friends. Funny thought, we were about 10 or 12 when we used to watch it, so we weren't really watching it for the romance. Well, I was, but I think they just wanted to see the pottery scene all the time. Hahaha! Soft porn. Oh, did I mention that they were 4 boys? Anyway, those days were fun. Now when someone sings Unchained Melody, we can't help but laugh 'til we get side stitches (Naks! Side Stitch! Hehe!).

>Nyak, ambaho!

Grabe, puro kalokohan na 'tong blog ko. Sorry for not having written anything seeriyoos lately. Pang Microsoft Word kasi yung mga yon eh. Spell check and grammar check are a must for serious entries. But for now, I will write about another malas adventure on Matipid St.

After taking a nice good bath in the office, I walked over to Mo's house to say hello to the Marilou Abaya kiddies, namely Mo, Chris, Izza, Marc, and Garch. Mel came by and I was really surprised to see her, and she looked cool as usual. Anyway, outside the house were a bunch of guys lining up for the auditions. I just walked through them and it so happened that I was wearing my ready-for-battle-este-edit shirt from Fort Magsaysay and walking the walk unacceptable for any fashion designer (Leq, help!). So, as expected, someone commented, 'Kala ko lalake. Darn it!

I left the kiddies after 30 minutes and walked through the same crowd and I reminded myself, you can't change your walk. Deal with it! I walked the walk, bouncy and unlady-like, proud to be the way I am UNTIL...down the road was the garbage truck. Aaaagh! I just took a bath! So I ran. I ran past the stinking truck all the way to the office hoping that the wind would blow the smell away.

I ran into the office and headed straight for the bathroom. Washed my hands, washed my face, and took some good ol' Johnson's Baby cologne from my bag and sprayed it on like a mad woman doing a prayer ritual of some sorts. Sigh. Bagong ligo nga ang pakiramdam...don't you just miss those ads?
Carlo has comments!!! Go, go GO!!!

A good friend of mine is now in the house because he got stuck in the BF Homes baha, so he needed a place to make tambay for a while before heading home to Alabang. I'm here in the office so I just told my family to expect him, feed him, watch TV, whatever. Then I get text from him asking if I had a stash of yosi anywhere in the house. A few seconds later my sister Bianca calls and asks me the same thing. I suggested that they ask from Mama, but apparently she's looking for yosi, too. Haha! Wawa naman sila! They can't even go out to buy because it's flooding up in front of the house. Shit, I hope the water doesn't get in the house again.

Speaking of yosi, I think I need to buy a new pack myself. Later! :)

>No, no, don't destroy my morning. Please...

I woke up beside the computer an hour ago and I couldn’t find my little handy-dandy notepad with all the plays and all the team details of the futsal event that I’m writing. What the hell! I’ve been writing this shit since last night and I haven’t even MOVED from where I’m sitting, or where I SLEPT! Now how could a notebook that I’ve been using all night to the wee hours of the morning disappear? Just like that?

Alright. I know I’ve this reputation of losing things, but this is how they get lost. One minute it’s there, the next minute it’s just gone. How did I lose it? I’ve no freaking idea.

There is the occasional I left them somewhere and I admit to this kind of mistake. But when things just disappear, it’s absolutely frustrating and it doesn’t help my forgetful reputation at all. Hell, these disappearances are what gave me that horrible reputation in the first place! Even when clothes get lost in the wash, Manang will just say “baka naiwan lang niya nanaman.” Punyeta, I put it in the wash nga eh!

After destroying my working morning by cursing and searching high and low for a notepad as small as a palm pilot, I decided to check the crew lite ace that we used for the interview yesterday. I went outside to get the key and lo and behold, there was my notepad, the same notepad that I had been using all night, sitting on the floor of the van.

Sometimes I’d like to blame dwendes or ghosts for taking my things and hiding them from me, but that doesn’t really help. I remember having to edit the Cahbriba Football Tournament when I came back to work last year and my whole shot list, along with the transcript of the organizer’s interview went missing. Again after some cursing and a lot hair-pulling, I edited the segment relying on my memory of the footage and when I had finished the next day, the missing papers appeared out of nowhere on the monitor in Edit 1, a place that everybody had checked during the general search. God!

What I hate most about frustrating moments like this is that I can’t help but breakdown a bit, curse, snap, and eventually cry, even when all is done and the lost are found. It’s so tiring to be sad and your face just sags, your head feels like a dumbbell and you can’t really smile because your cheeks are too heavy.

...Maybe if I eat some breakfast, I’ll feel better.

*Oh no. I'm becoming a true blogger. I'm VENTING!
And the bashing continues!

>Wow! A trip back to Rainbowland!

I actually went blog hopping and came across a Rainbow Brite website via the blog of a BeaBear. It was a real treat for my officemates and I to see Rainbow Brite again, and the site even includes the first stroy of how Wisp became Rainbow Brite, a story that I had never read about as a child. I remember getting my first Rainbow Brite doll from Santa Claus (My parents were really cool and sneaky!) and collecting stickers for a sticker album that you could submit upon completion to Uncle Bob's Lucky 7 Club. I think my older sister Bianca won for the nature sticker album back then.

I already have Transformers and GI Joe the movie and I'm still looking for Rainbow Brite the movie. I remember the Evil Princess trying to capture Spectra, the diamond planet, and she had all these little Sprites as slaves. Starlite had to wear cloth on his hooves to prevent him from slipping and sliding on the planet so much.

Hmmm, I used to have a Starlite doll as well. I wonder where he could be.

>What's your true color? c/o Meg. :)

Green

You're green, the color of growth and vigor. Good-hearted and giving, you have a knack for finding and bringing out the best in people. Green is the most down-to-earth color in the spectrum — reliable and trustworthy. People know they can count on you to be around in times of need, since your concern for people is genuine and sincere. You take pride in being a good friend. For you, success is measured in terms of personal achievement and growth, not by status or position. Rare as emeralds, greens are wonderful, natural people. It truly is your color!

Sayang medyo pangit yung girl. :p

Funny. At the bottom of the results, you'll find "This isn't me! Retake the test." Haha! talk about picky-picky.

Take the test! [Go].

>Still slacking off a bit to keep my sanity.

Just saw Chungking Express a few hours ago in the UP Film Center with Quark, Ramon, Joey Brash, Ernan, Alexis, and his friend Tim. Well, we didn't exactly sit together, but we were the bunch.

First of all, I thought that the theater was pretty cool. And big. Wow. I should go there more often whenever I've to sleep over for work.

Chungking Express is my second Wong Kar Wai film. I still like In the Mood For Love more, but it was still a cool movie. I liked the shutter speed shots and the editing and the music was laugh trip and the dialogue was fun and the characters...oooh, the first cop Ah Wu was cute. I also recognized the second cop from In the Mood For Love, and it was actually cool to realize that I had already seen 2 Wong Kar Wai films in my life. Not that it's important. Just...cool! :) Especially since I've all these friends and officemates talking about the director (Hell, Ramil's wallpaper is Wong Kar Wai's picture!) and now that I've seen 2 films, I kind of understand what they're talking about. I don't care to join in the discussions very much, though, for fear that I might not have anything as substantial to say. What I enjoy more is watching my friends discuss the film, especially when they start cursing and wailing their arms and jumping and stuff.

The ending took me by surprise, probably because I wanted more. That's how much I was enjoying the film. It showed another side of Hong Kong, the side that Rovilson, Paulo and I walked through last May but never really explored. We only got as far as foot massages, and the women who massaged us weren't even that pretty. Not that it mattered to me, of course.

After the movie, we passed by Alexis' house to invade his room and as Ernan described it, it's very organized. VHS tapes here, DVDs there, Skyflakes on the desk, everything had its place. I saw the trailer of Amores Perros and it was beautiful. We also checked out the wonderful UAAP pictures of Vic Icasas (I wonder if he's Pauline's brother.) and Jake Verzosa (Could be related to Te Pam naman.) on pbase.com and showed Ernan and Tim Quark's final NYFA film Child Star. Alexis also had a lot of pictures lying around and I saw some where he had hair. It's pretty weird to see a new friend's old picture where he has different hair, just like when first I met Chris with long hair and saw his picture with short hair. That kind of weird. Hmmm...I wonder how Mich would look with straight hair.

There was also this very nice poster of Chungking Express in Alexis' room. I like it because I like collages. They're so messy in an extremely cool and sort or well-thought way.

I made another tactless booboo with Quark today. Argh, I'm such an idiot. Sorry, Quark.

Lesson: When you don't have anything nice to say, don't say nothing at all. -Thumper.

I think I should add that to my birthday resolutions. Speaking of resolutions, I actually fixed my nails last night. I have manicure! I'm 23. My nails have gotta grow, grow, grow.

***
I finally ate in Bite Club, Katipunan. I expected a better tasting burger, but it was good nonetheless, not to mention huge! Well, for me at least. Quark suggested that I try the burger with mozzarella and susmaryosep sauce, but the susmaryosep was spicy. So I went for the bacon bits and I think I made a delicious choice. Mikey and I were having some problems with the mozzarella, though. :)

It reminded of my Big and Bigger days with the Studs and our friends from Church. Big Daddy Lou and Pocholo would eat 2 or 3 burgers until they were stuffed, and the funny thing was that even if they were already on the heavy side as it is, they really look stuffed. The cook always had a blast cooking for them. Ah, those were good burgers. Really good burgers.

I also got to read this disgustingly hilarious book in Quark’s car. I forget the title (I think it was Haw!), but it was disgusting and it was hilarious and I don’t think I’ll ever have a book like that in my slowly growing collection of books (Actually my collection of literature, period.). It’s something that I’d give my father, though.

I've been celebrating my birthday for too long and since I got sick last week, my work has piled up. I actually have what I like to call a back-to-back edit. 2 stories in one week, oh my gulay, this is gonna be rough. Buti na lang shorty yung isa. Fight, fight, fight!

This is Dosnieau's Kiss, a photograph by Robert Doisneau. I think Papa showed me this picture years ago, and I saw it again in Carlo's blog, but I just found out from Ramon that the photographer had asked the couple to pose for him. At first you'd think nye, diba? But it's still a beautiful picture anyway. It's a sigh kind of picture. :)
Before anything else, my sister and I were flipping through channels just now and we saw an interesting scene on one of those uncut movie channels that the wonderful Paranaque Cable offers. Then the credits started rolling. We just saw the ending of Billy Elliot, a movie we've been wanting see for the longest time. Great.

>I'm a happy half and half. :)

I chickened out yesterday and gave my Game 3 ticket to Ramon. I figured he had more heart than I did, and I really wanted my friends to experience the championship atmosphere, something I’ve already experienced as a La Salle student. I also figured that I was bad luck. I had all these friends from La Salle telling me to go to the game so that Ateneo would lose. Hah! Beat y’all, dudes!

Alexis and I met up with Joey Brash and his friends in National Sports Grill in Greenbelt and it was amazing. I’ve experienced watching the game in the office, then in Araneta, but NSG was something else. I watched the World Cup game of England vs. Brazil there and everyone was scattered around. This time, the whole placed was cut in half, one side for DLSU’s greenery and the other for ADMU’s blue paraphernalia.

Joey’s friends were pretty hilarious. I think it was the first time they’ve gotten together in about 6 years or so. Lady Brash was also present, so we all had a blast screaming at whatever television sets were facing us, banging on the table, stumping our feet, raising our arms after every shot, it was unbelievable. And the Lasallians even brought drums and that stupid horn. It was pretty wild, and really fun and friendly, too. What made it even cooler was that we could smoke, drink and eat while enjoying the game. Yipee!

Ateneo played a very good game. I must admit that I was very much afraid of La Salle, that even if we were leading all the way, they might fire it up in the 4th quarter and kick our asses. But that didn’t happen, and I actually thought, shit, we just might win this. And then it was the last 2 minutes, and I was still afraid, but I knew, I just knew that this had to be it. All the Ateneans were screaming while the Lasallians’ faces started crumpling up with worry.

Then it was down to the last few seconds. I can’t remember what the score was, I was just screaming and screaming. I managed to hear my phone, though, and it was a message from my DLSU sister Carla and it said, “I concede. Congrats!” Woohoo!!!

Ateneo defeated La Salle 77-70 and it was truly a glorious victory. I was so overwhelmed by the happiness in the room and all the balloons and the confetti on TV that I started crying. And what made me cry even more was seeing Villanueva and Manalo hug. It was just such a tight hug that had so much history in it. I was also happy for my friends who were in Araneta having the time of their life and being part of an historical event. And most of all, I was happy for the players. After 14 darn years, man! These players brought basketball glory and respectability back to the Ateneo! That's love! That's heart! (Shit, I might cry na naman.)

I got a text from a friend today that said, “A true archer knows how to put down his arrow when he sees a young eagle determined to fly. He is humble in victory and gracious in defeat. Animo La Salle!” Haha! Bitter. But really, I did feel for La Salle. They were invincible for so many years, and they had to lose to their one rival who hasn’t even been a competitive rival for so long until the new millennium began. Ateneo really had the right mix and they played with so much heart. Hell, Tenorio fouled out and Ateneo had to make use of Cruz whom I’ve never seen play before.

What still bothers me, though, is the blow that Villanueva gave Sta. Maria, an unnecessary elbow that had enough buwelo for us to conclude that it was deliberate. Ah well.

What I love most was when we each sang our alma mater songs. We went first, of course, and I actually knew more of the lyrics this time. Then the la Salle crowd clapped for us and sang their alma mater, and I sang it with them, forgetting that I wasn't cheering for them. But it's just such a beautiful alma mater and I couldn't help myself.

Someone said that during games like the UAAP, the world just stops and you forget about the problems of the economy, the country, the world even. Just watch the game and enjoy life for a while. We really need games like this once in a while. And what I love about sports is that every athlete congratulates his opponent whether or not they like each other. Everyone played a good game, everyone played because they loved the sport, everyone cheered because they loved their school, and everyone did everything together.

I'm also glad that there were no fights after the game, and I'm glad that even if the Lasallians were pretty heartbroken, they took it very well...I bet they're saying, "We'll get them next year." Hehe!
