Blue Eagles just broke his arm during practice. uh-oh! so much for ateneo this year!
magnum membrere and some other guy already have acl. patay!
alvin patrimonio said something improtant about the young players today: they're training too hard. i never thought of that, you know? i've had my share of training in the past, being punished for gaining a pound and staying on the beam for 2 whole hours until i landed my series without a single wobble. but i never broke a bone, never got hospitalized or anything. and here's ateneo with 3 injured players (key players at that), and they all got injured during practice.
in the US, a gymnast died of starvation. STARVATION!
in china, children are taken from their homes to become athletes...and that's all they do. they train and train and train...they're like robots. and when their age finally sets in, only a few are able to get regular jobs, or continue the legacy by coaching the newcomers.
it makes you wonder what the hell is with sports nowadays? the politics, the martial law coaches, the no-time-for-family policies, the brainwashing...i just hate how sports has become so complicated when all it is is getting together and competing with each other, using the best of your abilities against each other. sportsmanship has always been about bringing athletes together for a healthy competition to promote teamwork, human strength and the human spirit (that's why the
olympics logo has rings, right?). and most of all, sports is supposed to be fun. it's not supposed to wreck your knee before you hit 20.
